Config file fix for game stutter
Hi guys,
I just tried modifying these settings in my game's config_mp.cfg file (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players\config_mp.cfg) and it has solved my game stutter problem:
seta r_multiGpu "0"
seta r_multithreaded_device "1" //set this to 1 if you have at least a dual-core CPU
A couple more tweaks rest in the game video settings:
- turn shadows OFF
- turn "sync per frame" OFF
After the above changes, i am now playing with a smooth game at around 80FPS with no stutter!
Hope it will help you guys out!

Could be one of us was already using "letmein1"
Re: Config file fix for game stutter
Here's another tip for all of you to try, a bit troublesome as you have to type it at the start of every map in your console. It helps to make your game more playable by reducing your game stutter.
1. type /stoprecord in console
2. type /snd_restart in console

2. type /snd_restart in console

i thought this has been solved with patch? so if mine is x4 ah, so it's 0 and 1? or 1 and 1 ah?Zerofr@G! wrote:

this one is just in-game change settings right?Zerofr@G! wrote:

If yours is quadcore then your settings should be:
seta r_multiGpu "0"
seta r_multithreaded_device "1" //set this to 1 if you have at least a dual-core CPU
And yes, the turn shadows off and "sync per frame" off settings are all inside your game's video settings.

I re-installed it 2 days back
Try all the suggested fix posted on this thread, something will work. You don't have a backward rig to start with!

Not too sure how it helps as i haven't used it myself. Just caught sight of people posting in forums about it helping so i directed the tip here. No harm trying though if you're currently facing stutters.
Re: Config file fix for game stutter
/r_glow_allowed - set this to "0"
the HDR in this game were poorly made, set to 0 will boost the fps over 100 even at extra setting and still looks no diff from having HDR on

Nice one, i tried it and see my FPS hitting above 100 occasionally. Didn't ever hit above 100 FPS before.
Re: Config file fix for game stutter
Finally played a map with NO STUTTER! sadly, couldn't try on our own server last night.
Didn't even need to use snd_restart
Tried all the settings posted here. Not good enough. Stutter was still as bad.
Tried the config file from bandandslash, after loggin into server, game hang and crash and froze. Had to illegal shutdown/restart.
Mixed and match settings from here as well and bandandslash randomly, finally played a map with no stutters. I believe there can be more settings to try.
Strange thing though, certain servers I can play stutter free. Certain servers, face stuttering. So I believe server settings plays a big part too.
The settings, basically 0=off? higher the number, higher the settings?
Cause I read from forums 1 said 0 was lowest or off and another said 5 was "ugliest"
Also, do you guys think the logic of stressing the GPU to free CPU giving better game play
or
stressing CPU (when multi-core is not really optimized yet) to free GPU giving better game play.
Which is true?
stressing GPU would be like texture and quality set to high?
Ima try low priority tonight and see if it's better!

Erm what settings are you referring to when you ask about whether the higher the number, higher the settings?
This game seems to stress the CPU more than the GPU so that's probably why after they release the patch for dual core and quad-core players start to experience better gameplay.

alittle noob on graphics stuff...
the aa stuff they talk about, 0 is off and higher the number, higher the settings?
I think the aa stuff refers to some sort of reandering isit?

aa should be referring to anti-aliasing. Yes the higher the number the higher the settings. I have mine set to 4. It helps to smoothen the jagged edges of the characters in the game, making them look better.
Re: Config file fix for game stutter
so lower means less load on gpu?

Yep. The lower your settings, the lesser load on your GPU.
