Coming 8th Nov 2011, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling announces exclusive information @ FAQ on MW3:

A piece of information that Wind will be glad to read:
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Lobby System
Matchmaking with a Party
Matchmaking for Public Games
Steam Integration (Friends List, Server Browser,Achievements, Join on Friends)

While combining it with your favorite features from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare:

Dedicated Servers (Join your favorite or set up your own,without any 3rd party hosting requirements)
In-game Server Browser that allows you to filter by ping, map, gametype, hardcore, voice, password, and more.
In addition, we're supporting PC specific features that give you even more control over your experience like RCON, Custom Game Saving, NoGFX / Audio Card Requirement on DS.exe, Voice Chat, and SSAO.

The important thing you need to sift out from that FAQ is that u cannot rank up on dedicated servers, only in matchmaking servers through the game lobby. So to rank up and be part of the public leaderboards you have to use matchmaking, just like in MW2.

but it completely takes away the feel of CoD1!

these days, CoD feels so much like BF IMHO...maybe it's just changes with time...

Probably not getting it after all...dedi servers dun allow you to rank up!

so means you can still select servers like we used to do or that's just for console?

match making means a player is a host? that means not only we may get ping lag but also lag due to host pc/connection?

Yes we can still select servers from an ingame server browser like we used to but the servers listed are all unranked servers although they are dedicated servers. The only way to rank up is to join a game through matchmaking aka user-hosted game. You will be subjected to possible ping lag and the host will have an advantage.

that's why i was wondering if it's for console..

so far only can find standard (normal mode) and advance (HC)

totally cannot find simi browser to choose servers...

unless there's no servers around! cause cannot rank up ma...

ok, my feedback on MW3.

People who has MW2, said MW3 is not different from MW2. For me, I didnt get MW2 last time, so MW3 is fresh for me.

Maps are usually small and a few big maps. Very fast pace and very open. No longer u get 1 rambo to carry a win. It is very dependent on whole team.

Cause now you can be hit left right center everywhere and is so so fast with some very gay weapons when you equip with Akimbo, becomes hated...like the tube..and yea, Akimbo is like dual wedge....

Many game types available and i think the best part is....u can party up with friends..it's like clanner nightly...and if your party gets to like 7-8, you can go for bigger group like ground war where u have 10v10 above...

it has become more balanced...i feel..

but the HATE has got to be the lag from the match making when you get mismatch!

Valve has it's own browser and i think you should be able to filter it to fetch MW3 servers. Besides that i thought u should get a server browser inside the game itself?

Yea there's other clans using UO as well, we are not the first to use the tag nor the last.

Ok nem since you're playing this game perhaps you can help me with a few questions:

Have u seen any hackers?
How is survival mode?
Does it take a long time for you to be match-maked?
Do you usually get to play relatively lag-free or is the game a lag-fest due to the random matchmaking?
When the host leaves does it interrupt the gameplay during the host change?

i'm been trying to get wind to party up since he's been complaining no one to play with him..

my most honest opinion and feedback:
1) many said no difference from Mw2. I didn't get MW2 so I can't compare/judge on this.
2) for me, much better than BC2. Didn't get BF3 as it was sold out.
3) perhaps, I'm just no suited for BF style play. thus, MW3 is still a good buy for now.
4) match making, as much as we hate it due to all the mentioned
-lag wise, as long as we party up like 6, chances of lag, is none unless we suay suay get merged with other lobby which happens occasionally.
-even merged with other lobby, there are enough asian players to have good ping
-ONLY suay suay occasionally, we got merged with bad host..
5) when party gets too big, forced to go for Ground War which is as big as 12v12 or more...(i think). it becomes too laggy for me.
6) hackers--ever present. if hackers joins our lobby(rarely as they party up as a whole to hack!), insignificant unless it's a whole party that hacks. we can just end/close lobby if we host or just leave and match make again
7) sorry i've only tried kill confirmed, tdm, domination..
when host leaves, it picks up a new host. less than 1min play resumes.

unc, if kutch likes partying, I'm sure you will. Both of you have similar styles.
and when we party up, you don't have to worry as the party covers each other.

important factor unc...each map wont last more than 10min unless GW or SD...good for players like us

just last night, we got merged to another lobby and it was an entire clan.
just nice we had 6 in a party and it was mini clanner...

we lagged....but eventually after losing 2 games to us, they left in the middle of game

nightly, we're in a party of:

slowbe
kutch
ration
DD(recently)
GiantRabbit if some of you can remember

with some new friends who are decent

i bought at 70+, i know it's pricey for some...but I think so far, it's been a decent game enough to get us back together

some of us are still in this forum which I'm hoping to party up..we can easily form 12 players and 6v6 private match, no worries about lag and hackers..

i even have friends in their own party and I'm trying to arrange our own private match so we wont have to worry about lag and hackers

i'm more than happy to share any other reviews and comments and answer questions..
so come come...

for a long time since CoD4, I get the feek back. As history proves itself, alternate release is always nicer

i took a gamble and bought MW3 as it was the alternate release from MW2...
